INSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships are known as "gift aid." Scholarship awards are made on an annual basis and do not require repayment. Academic excellence, financial need, and major of study are the primary criteria used for selecting recipients. Students awarded scholarships will typically be expected to maintain SAP and a cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Spelman College offers institutional scholarships to help offset students’ cost to attend the institution. The amount of the scholarships varies and may be renewable or one-time awards. Students must apply each academic year to be considered for scholarships.

SPELMAN SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PORTAL (CURRENT ENROLLED STUDENTS)

The Spelman Scholarship Application Portal is a matching system that maximizes opportunities for students and is designed to help students connect to as many scholarship opportunities as possible. Once the student applies, the scholarship portal will automatically match students with eligible scholarships. Some scholarships may require an additional application and/or materials; if so, the student will be prompted to submit more information. The application will generally take less than 15 minutes to complete.

  1. You must access the Spelman Scholarship Application Portal.
  2. Click on “Apply Now” under the students tab.
  3. Enter your One Spelman username and password to login.
  4. Answer ALL questions to build your profile and match you to eligible scholarships.

Fall semester scholarship consideration requires current enrolled students to submit a Spelman College scholarship application by May 31st. Applications submitted after May 31st will not be considered for the Fall semester.

An official FAFSA must be received (this includes having all verification documentation received and completed, if applicable). The Student Aid Index (SAI) is required for consideration of most scholarships available at Spelman.

The Spelman College Scholarship Committee will notify students of first-round scholarship offers by June 30th. Yet, scholarship consideration is ongoing throughout the academic year. As new scholarship opportunities come available, they will be updated throughout the year.
