On April 11, 1881, Sophia B. Packard and Harriet E. Giles established Spelman College, an institution dedicated to empowering women of African descent with exceptional education. With a pledge of $100, they laid the foundation for a pioneering liberal arts institution that continues to equip and elevate brilliant young Black women, enabling them to become global changemakers.
