Student philanthropy at Spelman establishes a legacy of generosity that enhances the future of alumnae giving at the College. The primary mission of the student philanthropy program is to take a leadership role in developing Spelman College and its philanthropic future by increasing student donor participation and taking an active role in learning about the college's finances and interacting with Spelman faculty, staff, parents, and alumnae.
For decades, Spelman students have shown their pride and dedication by participating in the Student Giving Campaign. By designating their contributions to the President's Safety Net Fund, students can ensure that their peers can complete their academic journey by receiving the necessary funds to pay off any outstanding balances.
All Spelman students are encouraged to join the Student Philanthropy Council, volunteer during annual giving campaign events, and make donations to the College.
Seniors are also encouraged to take part in the Senior Legacy Campaign, which allows them to make a gift to Spelman in honor of their graduating year. In return for their generosity, seniors receive a charmed Spelman blue tassel to wear during Founders Day, Class Day, and Baccalaureate.
